Immanuel Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Member congregations of the LC-MS commit themselves to the Holy Scriptures as the inspired and inerrant word of God. These same congregations also pledge adherence to the Book of Concord as a faithful explanation and never a replacement for the Word of God.
Immanuel Lutheran Church can, therefore, declare that we are:
- Biblical. We hold to the Holy Scriptures as the Word of God and the only infallible source and norm for our Christian belief.
- Confessionally Lutheran. We confess the documents contained in the Book of Concord (1580) accurately reflect and correctly teach the content of the Holy Scriptures.
- Evangelical. We believe what the Holy Scriptures teach concerning the Gospel. Specifically, we believe that Jesus Christ became man, lived under the Law, suffered, and died on the cross in the place of sinners. Because of Jesus’ substitutionary life, death, as well as his resurrection from the grave, sinners may be forgiven their sins and granted everlasting life with God.
- Sacramental. The Holy Scriptures declare that God grants his gifts of salvation in specific ways. Through the Word, Holy Baptism, and the Lord’s Supper, God graciously grants to believers all the blessings that come from our Lord’s death and resurrection.
- Catholic. If the Catholic Faith has to do with the universal church, we are Catholic. We are a part of the one, holy, Catholic church.
- Orthodox. If Orthodox is about correct belief in or praise of God, we stand with those who do both.
